BROKEN WEB: Booksta Review

Broken Web quickly became one of my most anticipated books of the year after reading Forest of Souls back in March. My big thought at the end of Forest of Souls (other than how much I loved Sirscha) was this: the world just opened up! The world just opened up! And I couldn’t wait to see how all these new elements came into play in Broken Web.
Broken Web brings us to new parts of Thiy. Sirscha must navigate new cultural norms, what her abilities mean to these new allies. However, Sirscha is a soldier and a trained assassin, not a diplomat. Thiy hangs in a delicate balance, the threads connecting kingdoms in alliances as tenuous as spider silk. (Like, from our world. The spinners of Sirscha’s world as something else.)
Sirscha, my favorite, impulsive, I-think-I’m-a-lone-wolf girl with two swords, doesn’t really do anything delicately. As she is the center of this web, you might be able to imagine how things go. But in the face of all things, her focus remains the same: protecting her best friend, Saengo. She learns to lean into a couple of other friendships and sees she is actually the stronger for it. I loved her growth.
AND THE ENDING!!!! Lori did it again… changed all the rules. And now I have to wait another 12 months to know how this all ends!
